ENSENADA, MEXICO

Ensenada is a regular stop for 2,3 & 4 day cruises out of Los Angeles. we have been there in 2002,2007,2009,2013 and 2014
you would think with that many times there that we had done some cool stuff 🙂 but half of our trips there were with the kids so we did not venture far from town, we would usually take the kids to the shopping areas in town so that they could be in Mexico and buy some trinkets.

when you get off the ship you have to take a shuttle bus into town, drops you at Plaza Pueblo Antiguo, last we went it was a couple dollars each person. while you are on the bus they will offer a trip to  La Bufadora for about half of what you would pay through the ship (about $15-20 if i remember right) and also zipline trips.

our first visit there we did go to La Bufadora, a marine geyser or blowhole , map, its about an hour drive, we just bought the trip the guys on the bus into town were selling, it was ok, there is a big craft market they “give you time” to shop at. people say that if there has been a storm recently (rough sea) La Bufadora is better. if you wanted to see it but not wait around for a group and shopping time you could always just have a taxi take you out there and back.

Las Cañadas Campamento, about 45 min from the port, has alot of activities for people to do like 4 wheelers, ziplines, mountain biking, waterslide etc.
we will probably try this place out next time we go, alot of people that have been there have had really good things to say about Las Cañadas Zipline/Canopy Tour and it is a great price.
here is some info i got from them that is not on their site.-The admission price ($220 pesos) covers all the water installations such as pools, water slide and pedal boats, restrooms, showers, grills and camping tables, mini zoo, etc. The additional costs are Canopy Tour: $500  pesos per person (about $25), Horseback riding:$18 dollars per hour per horse and ATV rental $33 dollars per hour.
if you only want to zipline and not the other activities- you would have to leave a deposit of $220 pesos per person at the entrance booth(this deposit covers the cost of the day), each person gets  a wristband  and 2 hours to do the Canopy Tour, if you come back to the booth before the 2 hours with your wristband you get your deposit back. The Canopy Tour lasts about 45 minutes to an hour.
