BONAIRE

Bonaire

part of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) in Netherlands Antilles
our first visit to Bonaire was in Sept. 2017

Transportation as you get off the ship there is a booth for taxis with rates posted, we didnt use any transportation here since where we were headed was in walking distance.

Currency Bonaire uses US currency

Port there are 2 places the ships port, the North Pier and South Pier, about 5 min walk apart (map), when we came in on RC Adventure of the Seas we were at the south pier, most of the shops are near the north Pier

Beaches / Snorkeling Bonaire is well known for a SCUBA /Snorkel destination, most of its shores are rocky, so not alot of sandy beaches.
at first we were planning on going to “Airport Beach” but we wanted to try a Discover SCUBA Dive (you can go SCUBA diving without being certified, they do some classroom training and practice in a pool or shallow water then you can dive with the instructor down to 30-40 ft) so we ended up booking a Discover Dive with Dive Friends of Bonaire, they have a good cancelation policy, you dont pay till you are done and the instructor we worked with was great and it was reasonably priced ($95) we walded 1 min from the ship to their dive shop and the place we dove was Cha Cha Cha Beach 50ft from their dive shop, after that (video of our dive) we did some shopping we went back for some more swimming and snorkeling.

here are some recommendations easier to get to beach wise from Cruise Critic
You can go to the Divi Flamingo which is right beside the ship, a 5 minute walk, literally and if you have your equipment,  get in the water. They do not charge for snorkeling

When at Bonaire, just grab a cab and head for what they call “Airport Beach”. It’s about 2 miles from the ship, and at the end of the airport runway. FANTASTIC snorkeling there. When you’re done, just step back on the road and flag down a cab, or make arrangements for your driver to return and get you at a specified time.DO NOT let the driver sucker you into going to the other side of the island. Nice beach there, but nothing but sand and water.
