Barbados
Transportation
Taxis, there are a couple groups of taxi drivers, as in most cases the ones allowed in the cruise terminal area will charge more, if you walk out of the shopping area and head out the gate/entrance to the port you will find another group of taxi drivers that are more willing to negotiate.
first off they wanted $4 ea (for 13 of us) to go to Carlisle Bay (10 min drive) we offered $30 to a taxi driver to take us all and he did (he was actually just before we got out the gate) and was willing to pick us back up for the same price. more info on Barbados taxis and rates
Busses, the bus system is alot better on Barbados than other small islands, they use bigger busses so would accommodate larger groups easier.
By law, buses are only supposed to stop at the designated bus stops. So find the nearest one in the direction which you wish to travel. There are 3 types of public transport in Barbados – Transport Board buses (blue), Mini buses (yellow) and ZR / Maxi Taxis (white with a maroon stripe). walk out of the cruise port and the main bus station is about a ten minute walk down on the left. You buy bus tokens with US Dollars right at the station through a window. more info on busses and routes

Beaches
white sand, shipwrecks and turtles, the beach we decided to go to was Brownes Beach part of Carlisle Bay (map to parking lot) there are several shipwrecks in the bay also turtles. Brownes Beach is the closest to the turtle area and shipwrecks, when you get to the beach you will find alot of people trying to sell you a boat trip/tour to see the turtles and shipwrecks, they may even tell you it is too far to swim to get to them, it is not if your a decent swimmer and have fins.
when we first got there we were not sure exactly where the shipwrecks were (with all the research i did online no one had a decent map, so i made one for you) so we saw where boats were dropping people in the water and swam out, found where they were looking for turtles, saw a few, then swam out a little further to another group and thats where the shipwrecks were. it was a great beach, nice soft white sand, and not very crowded where we were. here is a video of our snorkeling
