St Kitts
our first visit to St Kitts in Feb 2018
Transportation
Taxis, when you get off the ship there are 2 groups of Taxi drivers, if you walk past the first group you will see a second group behind a fence, we talked to a driver and he told us $5 a person to go to South Friars Bay (there were 13 of us together) which was consistant with the taxi rates i found here, we offered $40 to take us all an he did it. we set a time for him to return and pick us up and brought us back for the same price.
Bus, (we considered using the bus but no buses go to the beach we wanted to go to) the public buses are privately owned, but government-licensed, vans. They sometimes have a decorative name on the front, and they all have a green license plate where the number starts with the letter “H” or “HA”. more bus info here
A bus may be flagged down anywhere along its route (not just at bus stop shelters), and the bus will also stop anywhere along its route (on request) to let off a passenger.
All bus fees (in Eastern Caribbean or EC dollars) are $2.50 for a trip of 5 miles or under, $3.00 for a trip of 5 to 10 miles, and $3.75 for a trip over 10 miles. ($1 US = $2.7 EC)
Destinations off of the main route are often possible on request, at the discretion of the driver, on payment of a small extra charge.

Beach, Monkeys and Snorkeling
after researching alot, we decided to go to South Friars Bay Beach by the Shipwreck Bar (i dont think there are any shipwrecks) the guys at the bar set out sugar cane for the monkeys about 10 am and 5:30 pm, definitely a bonus to be able to see monkeys at a good beach.
the guys at Shipwreck Bar are great, decent restrooms to change in and they do not charge for use of chairs like every other place we have been too.
the snorkeling was really good too, there is a small section of reef with some decent fish and small coral, just go straight out into the water from the bar area 10-15 yards and go to the right follow the backside of the reef, i saw Lobster, Squid, an octopus and someone else saw a stingray, a really good overall beach! here is a video of the monkeys and snorkeling
