OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA

OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA

we stopped in Ocho Rios on our trip in 2006 and 2017

Dunns River Falls, one of the really cool things to do in Jamaica that i have not seen other places isDunns River Falls just out of Ocho Rios, it is a cascading waterfall that has a couple hundred feet of elevation change over about 600 ft, one of the nice things about not taking a tour is you don’t get stuck in a slow line of people holding hands, here is a video from our visit with our kids in Jan. 2017
admission is $20 for adults and $10 for kids, if you go you will want water shoes, if you forget to bring them they do sell them there for $17 or rent them for $7, we found some pretty good and inexpensive ones on amazon that we have used.
not as many ships dock in Ocho Rios, one of the main places ships come in is in Falmouth which is about an hour from Ocho Rios, you can bus or taxi to Ocho Rios from there.

Fern Gully, the other thing that is pretty cool is Fern Gully, it is a road that follows or use to be a riverbed, very lush and green tons of trees ,ferns, and flowers, its about 5 miles from downtown Ocho Rios to go through it. update jan 2017-my local friends said that is not as nice as it use to be and that there are alot of people selling carvings/statues that are not ones you would want your kids to see 🙂

a stop in Fern Gully

going up the falls, if you are in a group it can take a long time, if you are on your own you can just go around groups like this
